Not something borrowed, or something blue… I need a great pair of black heels for my best friends wedding.This heel height is around 3″ which is perfect and it combines the right about of romantic style with a classic silhouette, and they are comfortable to top it all off. Of course, I found them with Sam. I find most of my favorites in the Sam Edelman brand.

Okay, okay. I’ll prove it. I picked up the following ankle boot, based on one of my favorites the Petty wedge. I have gotten so many compliments, even a CTA bus driver stopped me to inquire about my shoes, stylish bus drivers are the best kind. Enter the Patterson. I die for the front zip, studs and beautiful tan color. They go perfectly with skinnies, cropped and cuffed jeans… which is basically my whole wardrobe.

Also sticking with the same line, which I think is killing it, lets oogle the Carrie. The perfect mix of feminine and versatile. These pumps make me want to wear a dress, and my ripped boyfriend jeans. So many outfits are running through my head!

Now I don’t want my Sam Edelman boots to get worried but I got these very recently from a great Valentine’s Day at Dolce Vita online sale and I’m pretty excited to have more daily wear boot options. I am doing this thing with 2013, a resolution if you will, that I’m going to wear heels more days that not. This so far has led to some new purchases, so I can fulfill my resolution and not bore the world with wearing the same (4 to 5, now 6) pair of ankle boots each week. Comfort, amazing. All day at work and beyond type stuff.  I have really high hopes for these being a new fave since they hit at a great point of my ankle/leg (skinny jeans perfection) and are super cushioned on the bottom. The heel is also very manageable since it’s stacked.

I’m dying over ankle boots this year. Dying like I should stop buying them already, or I really hope I’m still this much in love or even like next year. My favorite printed boots of the season I purchased online on super sale from Anthropologie. I creepily told a stranger I loved her boots, they were an bright textured ankle boot with an all over print, and she graciously informed me that Anthropologie was selling them for 1/10 of the price and there were other great ones I should try out.

I didn’t remember that bit of advice until the next morning, but I did remember, and that’s all that matters. Let’s start with a picture.

The print and the brown leather were almost exactly what I wanted this year. I had been interested in another wedge pair from 80%20 but ultimately these intrigued me more. I can’t wear them without getting stares and compliments, and they are great to pair with really simple pieces since they add interesting without even trying. And on top of it all, they are comfortable, like wear all day and I live in Chicago comfortable.

My only complaint about them is that I can’t wear them as much as I’d like, since they are such a statement and have a bold print that doesn’t play nice with everything (yet it is versatile). I think they really need to be seen in Denver, for some reason, I just see them in the mountains. I hope my Denver BFF is ready for a visit.

I jumped at the latest new designer collection at Target over a week ago and am pretty pumped with what I got. I was dying for the printed shirt dress, and after a calculated swap with another girl in the dressing room, I successfully walked away with the piece I had to have the most. But I obviously didn’t stop there and also picked up a couple of the solid tanks, bright cardigan, and the red wedges in store. I also then decided to order the black heels online and I am really happy with all of it.

The shirt dress is pretty long, and requires some tallness to wear it, but I also have decided that I really like it when I tie it up and wear it as a regular blouse as well. I feel really bright with it on, and definitely consider it more of a Friday-Sunday (maybe even an exciting Thursday) shirt/dress.

I have finally gotten back on the jewelry designing track. After a couple recent visits to String a Strand on Wells in Old Town, I’ve been re-inspired.

I found this cool rectangular piece and thought I would use it as a center piece to hang other charms and beads from but I liked the simplicity of this so much that I went with it. I love that I can wear it by itself or pair it with a longer necklace too.

The longer necklace is a more standard design for me, since I really can’t get enough of the gold leaf chain, and the longer dangle really dresses up and adds more fun to any look.

My love of all things ombre started in high school, with my oboe reed making. (True, potentially an embarrassing over share, who doesn’t love a home-made oboe reed with purple ombre thread.)Since then I hadn’t revisited ombre until about a year ago.

It all began again with an infatuation with Gullianna Rancic’s hair. From there I started noticing I kept purchasing or wanting to purchase ombre items, in particular, this fabulous shirt down below. Then a necklace, then a skirt. And now I have the hair to match.

Shirt is by Red Haute, picked up at great boutique in Minneapolis. Hair color is by CJ at the Aveda Gordon Salon in Chicago.

For some it may be too much. For me it’s just enough.

I’m already picturing, dark skinnies, the boots, flowy semi sheer printed button down, yeah that might sound familiar from an earlier post.

Stylish, understated, perfect for work, perfect for happy hour, perfect for Pam. Now that it’s officially cold, I need (well probably want) more boot options. Low booties are a fun new addition to my shoe collection.

I’m really enjoying cuffing long skinny jeans to meet the top of the boot to add a bit of fun to the look, it also roughs up the look. The possibilities are endless

Nailpolish completes me.

I worked in a manufacturing environment once… while details are besides the point, I want you to know, the real reason I left was that I couldn’t wear nail polish.

I’ve been back on the nailpolish wagon for years now, and I’ve found a new go to color.

OPI Berlin there done that

This started as a manicure color, but it’s gone into the purchased collection. It’s the perfect neutral but also on trend and will go beyond this season and next, because try as I might, I’ve never finished a bottle of polish.

While I’ve been writing this, I’ve decided I’m going to go back for another bottle, just in case. OPI keep up the good work and keep up the great polish names.

Almost every time I go into TopShop, I leave with a necklace, wanting a necklace or wanting to go home to make a copycat necklace. This last venture it was the first choice. Enter
gray tshirt necklace slash scarf awesome thing. This goes with a plain t-shirt to make it more memorable, or looks great dressing down a sleek dress.

I’ve worn it three times already (including today, see below), and it’s only been in my life for 2 weeks. Sorry friends/family/coworkers, you might get sick of seeing it but I am no where near sick of wearing it.
